What is a "win" in the context of mediation? Isn't the whole aim of mediation to "successfully" settle matters without litigation? Why shouldn't mediators get paid for their efforts?

In my opinion, promoting contingency fees in the context of mediation suggests a different motivation on the part of the mediator. Is it that in contingency cases, they would take a higher fee?
